Picture and audio post on a four-part series that explores the mind of Sam, a teenager on the verge of acting out suppressed psychopathic desires.
How it was done
The aim was to focus the audience’s attention on Sam’s character and emotional state, highlighting his artifice and lack of empathy for those around him. Negative framing, extreme close-ups and the extraction of external sounds and voices were combined to draw viewers into the character’s mind as he moves through the narrative. A natural cutting rhythm was maintained to ensure the process felt unforced and realistic. Kim Gaster and John Richards edited the series on Avid Symphony, Andrew Daniel graded it on Baselight and Paul McFadden at Bang completed the audio post using Avid Pro Tools.
