Brief
Post-production on Jimmy McGovern’s drama about a Catholic priest in a Northern urban parish.

How it was done
Starting with 4K rushes shot using a Panasonic VariCam and vintage Panavision lenses, LA Productions head of post-production Patrick Hall completed picture post using DaVinci Resolve, Mocha and Fusion. Hall created a bold, stylish grade in Resolve that was both vibrant and colourful while being considerate to the sepia-toned flashbacks. Lens flares were created in Resolve and matched with genuine flares from the Panavision lenses. VFX work included compositing using Mocha and Fusion, with the latter used for sky replacements and generating rain drops.

Patrick Hall will be discussing Broken at the Media Production Show next week (13 June, 1pm).
