Channel 4 has appointed Orpheus Warr to the role of chief technology officer.

Orpheus Warr

Warr, C4’s chief architect and head of technical strategy, will replace Bob Harris, who left the broadcaster in March last year.

In his new role, Warr will be responsible for C4’s overall technical strategy, architecture and research and development activity. He will also lead the technical aspects of C4’s broadcast management, distribution and operations.

Warr, along with chief information officer Kevin Gallagher and head of content management Rachel Yendoll, will report to director of strategy and technology Keith Underwood.

Underwood described Warr as “an incredible talent” with “a very strong track record in developing ground-breaking technical solutions, which enable business transformation”. He added: “As CTO, Orf has a central role in C4’s ongoing programme of investment in innovation.”

Warr joined C4 in 2003. Since then, he has played a key role in the launch of 4oD and C4’s use of cloud-based platforms.
