BVE 2017: Audio console manufacturer Calrec will demonstrate its new Brio control surface and RP1 remote production unit at next month’s BVE trade show.

Calrec Brio

Calrec claims that Brio is “the most powerful and compact digital broadcast audio console in its class, with a comprehensive broadcast feature set that supports a wider breadth of broadcasters”.

At 89cm wide, it is the smallest product in Calrec’s Bluefin2 family.

The dual-layer, 36-fader surface provides more faders in a given footprint than any other audio broadcast console, Calrec said.

It has a 15.6-inch HD touch-screen user interface (UI) while a bank of hardware rotary controls provide control over parameters displayed in the UI.

Calrec’s RP1 remote production unit, which was launched at last year’s NAB show, is a live-broadcast product that allows broadcast sound at a sporting or music event to be mixed remotely.

The 2U core contains integrated, FPGA-based DSP, which enables a console surface at another facility to control all mixing functionality.

Its modular I/O backbone accepts any of Calrec’s I/O cards and the RP1 can connect via analogue, AES, MADI, SDI, and AoIP solutions from AES67, Ravenna, Dante, and SMPTE 2022.
