Brief Picture and audio post services for the drama about the lives of factory staff in 19th century England.

How it was done Shot on Arri Alexa on location in Cheshire and MediaCityUK’s The Pie Factory, rushes processing and editing took place at Timeline North. Daily edits were uploaded to Aframe’s cloud, enabling production to view the edits from any location prior to finishing.

Timeline North director of post production Eben Clancy said: “The ease of using the cloud for this production was such an added bonus for us.

“It allowed all our teams to collaborate and choose workflows that worked for them, from any location on any device. The flexibility this gives you when dealing with a large range of collaborators is invaluable.

“We chose to use Aframe again because we have always found the platform to be secure, easy to manage with full-resolution capabilities that we have not been able to find elsewhere.

“Aframe allows you to organise media without actually editing it. Our whole team can access the full-resolution media wherever and whenever they need it, while still being able to generate viewing proxies for easy review by others.”

Finishing was completed in Avid Symphony and mixed in Avid Pro Tools HD. Colourist Trevor Brown graded the series using DaVinci Resolve 10 to make it reminiscent of a classical painting.

Online editor Sion Roberts tackled the added challenges associated with filming a historical drama in a working museum, which included removing light switches, TV aerials and other anachronisms. Richard Lee was dubbing mixer.
