NAB 2012: Broadcast production provider EVS has added support for Sony XDCam to its XT3 and XS suite of production servers.

EVS developed an integrated module for its XT3 and XS (pictured) servers to offer native XDCam 422 50Mbps HD encoding and decoding capabilities.

“We wanted to offer our XT3 and XS customers a quick and simple way to access native support for the XDCam HD codec,” said EVS product manager Laurent Petit.

“Combining the industry standard codec with our proven track record in live technologies and solutions like loop recording and media sharing network will help change the way news, sports and other TV production workflows are handled.”

EVS said broadcasters would “benefit from the unmatched level of speed and control over live actions of EVS while supporting natively XDCam from ingest to playout”.

The XDCam module integrates with existing XT3 and XS server architecture via an upgrade. The XT3 servers now offer native support for Avid DNxHD, ProRes422, AVC-Intra and DVCPRO.
