Piksel has appointed former Sky and Fox News executive Gerry O’Sullivan to its board of directors.

O’Sullivan most recently held the role of interim chief executive for Digicel’s TV group where he launched cloud-based IPTV and quad play services throughout the Caribbean, South America and the Pacific.

Prior to his role at Digicel, O’Sullivan was senior vice president of global TV and entertainment at Deutsche Telekom where he lead the company’s global TV and entertainment businesses and launched a multichannel offering including IPTV, satellite, hybrid and OTT and second screen platform services across Europe.

Before that, he was director of strategic product development and director of product management at Sky where he was responsible for launching Sky+ HD, Sky Broadband, Sky VoD, Sky+ EPG and Sky 3D.

Piksel chief executive Peter Heiland said: “Gerry has worked some of the most senior people in entertainment, news and sports worldwide and offers a unique perspective on how digital content and new technologies can support and create new revenue streams for the business.

“We believe this will assist in providing Piksel and in turn our customers with the global perspective required to succeed in today’s highly dynamic market.”

O’Sullivan added: “I have stated many times that I believe innovation in online video is where the future of the broadcasting and pay TV business will evolve. Piksel has demonstrated that it can deliver new and innovative experiences to its client’s customers.”
