NAB 2012: GB Labs is set to launch its Space LTO high-performance archive server at NAB.

Space LTO enables users to write to its four built-in LTO 5 drives concurrently, all at full speed.

Sales and marketing director of GB Labs Ben Pearce said: “An archiving device with multiple tape drives each backing up 1.5TB of data is a tempting prospect for media organisations.”

Space LTO was developed to avoid the wear and tear on the magnetic tape that is the result of the shuttling and scrubbing techniques that slower devices have to employ.

The product works in tandem with a 10Gb Ethernet network-attached Space storage unit which GB Labs said had been tested to deliver sustained performance in excess of 600MBs.
