How it was done Munky VFX supervisor Gary Brown spent five weeks in Penang, Malaysia, shooting scenes in which the British characters move from Delhi to Shimla to escape the heat. Brown worked with Flame artists Venancio David and Mark Epstein to place the Penang Hill locations against the backdrop of the Himalayas. Following Peter Anderson’s direction, director of photography Paul Biver shot explosions of holi powder using the Sony FS700 at 400fps. Art director Alex Knowles used After Effects to composite the footage with images from the programme and archive material.
