Brief Provide remote offline editing facilities followed by complete picture and audio finishing on a 1 x 60-minute doc about tennis legend and gay rights campaigner Martina Navratilova.
How it was done The brief given to senior colourist Liam Shanagher was to create a warm and inviting tonality. The grade was completed using DaVinci Resolve, combining archive footage going back more than 50 years with newly shot interviews from around the world captured on a mixture of different cameras. For the audio mix, Gemma Thorn and Robin Cowap combined archive of various quality with newly acquired material to create the desired mood. They used Avid Pro Tools 12 and mixed the show on an Avid S6 console, using Isotope RX plug-ins to clean up any inconsistencies.
