Brief Provide physical special effects for the sixth series of the children’s show about pupils working as spies.

How it was done Pyrotechnic sparks, smoke and CO2 rigs were used for explosions and to show malfunctioning electrical equipment.

The hardest part of creating a series of explosions was ensuring the safety of all on set, both behind and in front of camera.

Swift repetition of the explosion was important to ensure the smooth running of the shoot. Comprehensive camera protection was required for a scene involving an explosion of gunge, with large compressed air rigs and water cannon used to fire the gunge down the corridor.

Mike Kelt was SFX designer and supervisor, senior SFX technicians were Robin Pollok and Matt Loader, and Paul Gorrie was the pyrotechnician.
