The Farm Group’s broadcast hire division Rent is celebrating its second birthday by adding a raft of new Sony camcorders to its inventory.

Among the purchases are five Z7 and 10 EX3 cameras along with a still-to-be-decided number of EX1-Rs (pictured, the new handheld camcorder launched last month.

The new shooters will be hired out with Canon HJ and Carl Zeiss prime lenses and accessories such as NanoFlash data recorders and Letus 35mm depth-of-field adaptors.

Rent hopes to attract producers working with limited budgets.

Business development executive Caroline Bingham said: “We’ve established a strong market position by specialising in the supply of kits that enable cost-efficient capture up to full HD. These new cameras provide quality images at a price point significantly lower than traditional HD shooting kits.”

New decks and solid-state HD mini-cams have also been picked up.

  • The Farm recently completed full picture post on the new E4 comedy drama Misfits. Shot on the Red Camera using uncoated lenses, Perry Gibbs graded the series on Film Master to produce glistening highlights and fantastic silvery mid-tones throughout.
