Satellite operator SES is to build a new teleport with several earth stations on the Isle of Man.

The facility will provide services including uplink, downlink and contribution services for broadcasters and data centres. It is expected to enter into service in 2017.

“SES’s investment in a high-tech teleport on the Isle of Man will further strengthen our infrastructure offering, benefiting all of our customers” said SES chief technology officer Martin Halliwell.

SES currently has over 30 teleports, including those of its subsidiaries O3b Networks and MX1.
