Sony has acquired the broadcast automation software developer Crispin Corporation, it was announced at NAB.

Previously a technology partner, North Carolina-based Crispin develops software for master control automation, MAM and newsrooms. It has developed various APIs for Sony systems and applications.

All staff are staying with the company following the deal including chief executive Alan DeVaney who founded the company in 1997 as a developer of software for video servers.

No financial details were revealed.
