Post facility The Hubb has ceased trading after a potential takeover by health and fitness channel Body in Balance collapsed.

The Hubb, which was set up 18 months ago, has six edit suites and one audio suite. It stopped trading at the end of October.

Managing director and senior editor John Howard said Body in Balance, which went into administration last week, had been lined up as a potential buyer of the facility since July.

“When the deal with Body in Balance was on the table it started using the facilities on the basis that if the deal fell through we could invoice it. But it pulled the plug at the end of October and after that we couldn’t carry on.”

Howard told Broadcast that changing market conditions were also to blame. “TV has changed dramatically; nobody does offline edits in smaller places anymore and that was one of the main causes of our downfall,” he said.

“Companies like ours struggle to get a range of work, with virals and corporate work mostly done in-house.”

Howard claimed The Hubb is owed £40,000 by Body in Balance for work done from July to October.

He said the management team of The Hubb was now seeking to sell the business as a going concern, adding: “We’ve had a fair bit of interest.”

Body in Balance referred a request for comment to administrator Edwin Kirker, who despite repeated requests was unavailable for comment.
