How it was done The bulk of the programme was shot with a Canon C300 and Canon 5D, with a Go Pro Hero 3 used as a back-up. Online editor and colourist Jon Bruce worked closely with director Dominic Gallagher to create the look of the series.

Much of the story centres on the barren landscapes of Pachacamac and Mount Ampato, which are very different to the area around Machu Picchu. The grade had to remain ‘real’ and respectful of the dramatic demise of the Inca while acknowledging the beauty of the landscape. Bruce used DaVinci Resolve to grade the series and Avid Symphony for the online. Karen Imbusch was the dubbing mixer.
