How it was done Re-recording mixer Nigel Heath used Hackenbacker’s AMS Neve 48-fader console for the mix, which at times ran to more than 200 tracks.

The action scenes required the most incoming tracks. The impact sounds for sword fights used elements laid by FX editor Darren Banks, with Foley used for detail and nuance.

Heath said the biggest challenge was combining clear dialogue with the music and FX.

Hardware FX units including a pair of Thermionic Culture’s Culture Vultures were used to add some distortion and a degree of distress to help some sounds stand out in the, at times, very full mix.
