Brief Create a title sequence for the series, emphasisingthe contrasting emotions of soldiers on opposing sides during World War I, including their loves and fears, the brutality of conflict and comradeship.
How it was done A graphic style based on photographic super-imposition juxtaposes the two main characters’ contrastingthoughts. Key feature images drive the narrative and are super-imposed with either complementary or contrasting footage. Most images were taken from the series, with additional grading, effects and rotoscoping, while some required a full CGI build in Cinema 4D. The sequence was composited in After Effects. Art direction was by Howard Watkins. The lead designer was Simon Edwards and the animator was Julia Hall.
