Brief Picture and audio post on the latest series of the motoring magazine show.

How it was done Senior dubbing mixer Andy Hodges maintained the smooth yet hard-hitting mixing and editing style, jumping from quiet establishing shots to roaring engines and high-speed fly-bys.

Music rises and subtle, soft moments help to create the calm-beforethe- storm effect, and the tranquil moments after the hard and fast sequences for which Top Gear is known.

Although the car engine sounds are genuine, the interior dialogue sometimes had to be cleaned of the car’s rumbling noises. Hodges used various plug-ins, including Cedar DNS One, Waves X-Noise and X-Crackle.

Colourist Paul Fallon graded the series on Baselight, with a variety of looks for different scenarios.
