Twitter has launched a version of its Periscope streaming service that enables the use of external cameras, hardware encoders and steaming software for live social media broadcasts.

Called Producer, it requires the Periscope iOS app and works with a streaming URL from supported applications including the OBS Studio software and Teradek encoders.

Previously, Periscope only worked with a smartphone’s in-built camera. Producer is initially being made available to selected brands, producers and media organisations.
