Twofour is expanding its in-house post-production operation by installing six more offline suites and quadrupling storage at its Plymouth base.
The indie has converted some meeting rooms at its south-west headquarters to accommodate the six additional DX-based Avid systems, taking its total edit suite capacity to 22.
The suites are connected to an expanded Avid Isis storage system, which has grown from 32TB of mirrored storage to 128TB.
Head of facilities Rick Horne said: “We’ve seen an increase in work, and the shooting ratios for some productions have gone up with the shift to tapeless.
“We’re making brand new series for Sky Atlantic including British Cycling: Road To Glory and Urban Secrets, as well as a new series of The Hotel Inspector for Channel 5, and we try to keep as much as possible of the post-production in-house.”
To supplement the two audio suites, a dubbing prep room has also been installed, along with upgraded mixing desks.
The post facilities at Twofour’s London base have also doubled in size, with the Holborn office now kitted out with four Avid suites and four Final Cut Pro suites.
The Avid edit suites are now supported by a 16TB Avid Isis shared-storage system.
The bulk of the kit in both Plymouth and London was supplied by Altered Images and Logic Broadcast helped with the technical install.
The development is due to be completed within the next couple of weeks. Horne described the investment as “significant” but declined to reveal the cost of the expansion programme.
