The acquisition of Broadcast Sports International is the latest in a long list of company investments by the NEP Group

BSI story

NEP Group has acquired wireless audio-visual specialist Broadcast Sports International (BSI). The Baltimore-based BSI, which was formed in 1979, designs and provides broadcast-quality wireless audio-visual products and systems for major television networks and sports.

These include wireless camera systems, wireless audio systems, wireless communications systems and digital technology to receive, decode and distribute images and sounds.

The company is well known for its in-car cameras, used to capture images in NASCAR, IndyCar and NHRA, and for its wireless cameras and microphones for golf. It has offices in the US and in London.

The acquisition of BSI adds wireless capabilities to NEP Group’s line of specialty capture services. Its other brands in this space include Bexel and Fletcher, both of which it acquired in the last 12-18 months.

NEP Broadcast Services global president Mike Werteen said: “We’ve worked alongside BSI’s team for years and share a great deal of respect for their high-quality work and technology.”

BSI president Jeremy Pink adds: “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished at BSI. Combining our wireless talents and technology with an industry leader like NEP will take our business even further and, most importantly, it will benefit our clients by enabling us to provide them with a full suite of broadcast and specialty services.”

NEP Group says the BSI brand will “remain in the market” and Jeremy Pink and Peter Larsson of BSI’s senior management team will continue to run the business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
