Studio Lambert for BBC

Series three of Studio Lambert’s runaway hit reality game of deception and strategy returned to an eager audience, which averaged 10.3m (probably more when you take into account the number of people having viewing parties in pubs and cinemas across the nation).

This instalment brought back the show’s trademark traitors, faithfuls, murders, banishments and cloaks, but added new twists, including a rail replacement which forced three contestants to risk their place in the game right at the start, a face-to-face murder and the power for one person to discover whether the object of their suspicions was a traitor or a faithful.

But, as ever, it was the casting which won over both the audience and the judges, one of whom described it as “genius”. This season included call centre manager Minah who became the figurehead for the sisterhood of Traitors; retired opera singer, fan favourite and terrible liar Linda and Charlotte, who faked a Welsh accent in order to seem ‘more trustworthy’.

“Once again, this addictive hit got everybody talking,” said one judge, adding: “This show continues to prove that even in a world of intense competition for viewers’ time and attention, event telly is still something which can bring the nation together.”
