Philip Pratt’s appointment to Angela Jain’s team comes as streamer looks to treble spending on local series
Disney+ is bolstering its team in Europe with the addition of an Amazon MGM Studios exec, as the streamer prepares to triple its originals output over the next three years.
Philip Pratt will lead originals for Disney+ in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, having been named vice president of original production.

He takes up the role in early 2027 and will report into Angela Jain, head of content for Disney+ EMEA.
Pratt had been at Amazon for more than a decade and was responsible for all German original productions for Prime Video including global hit Maxton Hall – The World Between Us and its local version of comedy show LOL: Last One Laughing.
He also greenlit war movie The Tank, thriller Sebastian Fitzek’s The Calendar Killer and reality competition The 50.
News of his appointment follows Sonia Rovai’s recent arrival as Disney’s vice president of original production in Italy and comes after Disney chief exec Josh D’Amaro said the streamer would be tripling its local original series spending to drive subscriber growth.
Jain said: “As we grow our local originals for Disney+ in EMEA, we want to back bold, distinctive storytelling that feels relevant to local audiences and can stand out and get noticed.
“Philip’s creative track record and experience make him the perfect person to lead that work across Germany, Switzerland and Austria, partnering with exceptional producers and talent to build a slate that gets audiences talking.”
Pratt added that he wanted Disney+ to be “a creative home where producers and talent come together, take bold ideas forward and create extraordinary entertainment.”
He continued: “Disney’s ambition for original storytelling is one I’m proud to help build on. I look forward to working with incredibly creative talent to bring stories to Disney+ that entertain, resonate and reach millions of viewers across Germany, Switzerland, Austria and beyond.”
