Four-part drama exploring life of François Mitterrand is produced by Call My Agent! firm Mother Production
France TV Distribution will launch international sales for its scripted series A Very Secret President - about former French leader François Mitterrand - at this month’s Series Mania, Broadcast International has learned.
The show, known locally as Mitterrand Confidentiel, is being produced by Mother Production, the production outfit best known for hit Call My Agent!.
Denis Polyades plays the titular president alongside a starry local cast that includes Valerie Karsenti as former first lady Danielle Mitterrand and Judith Chemla as Mitterrand’s mistress Anne Pingeot.
The series is set during the end of Mitterrand’s second term as he battles attacks from every direction, even from within his own ranks, and reflects on four pivotal moments that have defined his political and personal journey.
The 4 x 52-minute episodes explore his legacy from his early days in French Resistance to the Elysée wiretapping scandal and the revelation of his double life.
Baptiste Carrion-Weiss, Pauline Briand, Léa Lopez, Marie Denarnaud and Suzanne Jouannet also star. Stephane Pannetier penned the script for the series directed by Antoine Garceau, who also directed several seasons of Call My Agent!.
