Acorn TV takes Welsh drama into US

APC Studios’ boutique distributor About Premium Content (APC) has secured the sale of seasons 1 and 2 of Welsh-language drama Bariau (Inside) with

Acorn TV has picked up Welsh-language drama Bariau (Inside) for its streamer in the US, Australia and New Zealand.

The deal, via APC Studios’ distributor About Premium Content (APC), covers both seasons of the gritty drama, whose second season debuted mid-April on S4C in Wales.

The show is produced by Rondo Media for S4C and distributed globally by APC. It is sold as a 12 x 30-minute show, but also available as 6 x 60 minute, and explores the complex interplay between those working and being held in prison.

 

The Comeback gets third and final HBO Max outing 

HBO Max is bringing Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow’s comedy The Comeback back for a third and final season, 20 years after the first season debuted.

The show, whose second season ran a decade ago, will begin production on its third season this summer. It will debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2026.

Returning series regulars include Kudrow, Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, and Damian Young.

 

Chilevision names programming chief

Paramount-owned Lat Am broadcaster Chilevisión has named presenter and host Julio César Rodríguez as programming director.

Rodríguez, who fronts shows including Contigo en la Mañana and Primer Plano, will take on the role from 1 July and will oversee all new broadcast and streaming content for the Chilean operator

He will remain as host of Contigo en la Mañana and Primer Plano, and takes up the role having previously worked at broadcasters including Canal Vive, Mega and TVN.

 

Universal strikes Elizabth Banks deal

Universal Television has struck a first-look pact with Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions.

Brownstone, which was previously under a deal at Warner Bros Discovery, will develop and produce TV content for all platforms with Universal TV.

The rejig comes as Brownstone ups Anna Hughes to vice president, reporting into head of TV Krissy Wall.
