The Americas expands on NBC
NBC has extended Tom Hanks-narrated docuseries The Americas into a second season.
The show has been slated for 2028 and production has begun, with the show again exploring the continent’s landscapes and wildlife.
NBC has also confirmed a special - The Americas: A Wild 250th - will debut on the network on 2 July and the following day on Peacock to mark the anniversary of US independence.
Another special, The Americas: Mother’s Day, has also been lined up for next year. NBC sibling Universal Television Alternative Studio and BBC Studios Natural History Unit again produce.
Keshet Int’l sells The Baker and Beauty remakes
Mediaset España and Suspilne Ukraine have bought TF1’s French adaptation of Israeli show The Baker and the Beauty (aka La Belle et Le Boulanger) from Keshet International.
The French 4 x 60-minute adaptation was produced by Marathon Studio and Terence Films, and is sold by KI.
The distributor has also sold all three seasons of Keshet 12’s original Israeli version of the drama to streamer Izzy TV, while Aha’s Indian adaption has been picked up by Flow in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The Baker and the Beauty is from Assi Azar and follows the impossible love story between a humble baker and a global superstar. It has spawned five international remakes.
The Wolf King set for Starz adaptation
Starz is looking to add to its scripted roster by starting development on Lauren Palphreyman’s romantic fantasy novel The Wolf King.
The US operator has acquired rights to all three novels in the series - The Wolf King, The Night Prince, and upcoming The Wolf Queen - and attached Tanya Saracho (Vida) as showrunner and executive producer to the project.
Palphreyman is also EP on the series, which will follow a captive princess who gets kidnapped by a brooding werewolf alpha and plunged into a bloodthirsty war.
