Netflix comedy exec joins Amazon
Amazon MGM Studios has snagged another Netflix exec, this time comedy development exec Andy Weil.
He will become head of comedy and joins fellow Netflix alum Peter Friedlander, who joined Amazon MGM Studios last year to head up global TV.
Weil - who was behind shows ranging from BoJack Horseman and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to Master of None at Netflix - had been at the global streamer for more than a decade.
Other former Netflix execs to join Friedlander at Amazon include unscripted chief Jenn Levy and Blair Fetter, who leads the Worldbuilding and Genre Series unit.
Deal or No Deal returns to Germany
ProSiebenSat.1 is bringing Deal or No Deal back to Germany more than a decade since it last aired.
Banijay Productions Germany will begin production in September, with the latest series set to premiere 2027.
Deal or No Deal launched in the Netherlands in 2002, where it remains on air today, and has since spawned remakes in 84 territories that have run to more than 380 seasons.
The format is currently being produced in 13 territories, with recent revivals including South Africa, the UK, Mexico, Sweden, Argentina, the Philippines and Turkey.
ScreenSkills names chief exec
Former Channel 4 nations and regions boss Sinéad Rocks has been appointed chief executive of training body ScreenSkills.
Rocks assumes the position from November, succeeding Laura Mansfield in the role.
She most recently spent seven years as managing director of nations and regions at C4, where she oversaw the rollout of the PSB’s strategy to increase its spend on creative content across the nations and regions, and founded the broadcaster’s skills training wing 4Skills.
She also led on the opening of C4 creative hubs in Bristol and Glasgow, as well as its National HQ in Leeds, where she was based. Broadcast revealed she would be departing C4 in May. Read more
