Apple TV duo Widow’s Bay and Pluribus secure almost 20 nominations each
HBO Max shows The Pitt and Hacks secured almost 50 Emmy nominations between them, as the Television Academy unveiled the shortlist for this year’s awards.
The Noah Wyle-starring medical drama secured 25 nominations while Hacks took 24 nods, with Apple TV series Widow’s Bay and Pluribus close behind on 19 and 18, respectively.
DTF St. Louis earned the Warner Bros Discovery-owned streamer a further 13 nominations, while A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms secured nine nominations in what was a strong showing for HBO Max.
The Apple TV pair of Shrinking and Slow Horses earned nine noms each, Prime Video’s Spider-Noir was nominated in 11 categories and Netflix’s Season 2 of Beef garnered 16 nominations.
Across the piece, HBO led the field on 122 nods, followed by Netflix on 111 and Apple on a record 87.
The Pitt, which won the 2025 drama series porize, will go up against Slow Horses and Netflix’s The Diplomat as well as Apple TV’s Your Friends And Neighbors and Paradise on Hulu.
Comedy contenders include Hacks, Widow’s Bay, ABC’s Abbott Elementary, The Bear from FX/Hulu, and Apple TV’s new show Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
Last year’s dramatic actor winner Noah Wyle is again in the actor mix alongside Gary Oldman for Slow Horses and Rufus Sewell for The Diplomat, whose castmate Keri Russell is a contender in the actress category with the likes of Rhea Seehorn from Pluribus, and Zendaya from Euphoria. Britt Lower won in 2025 for Severance and the third season of the Apple TV show is anticipated in 2027.
Comedy actress contenders include 2025 winner Jean Smart from Hacks, Ayo Edebiri from The Bear and Elle Fanning from Margo’s Got Money Troubles, as well as Steve Carell from Rooster and Martin Short from Only Murders In The Building.
The Studio won best comedy and comedy actor for Seth Rogen last year and is expected to be in contention next year after Season 2 debuts.
Beef, Peacock’s All Her Fault, and DTF St. Louis from HBO Max are among those flying the flag in the limited or anthology series category.
The Emmys will take place on 14 September in LA.
