ProSieben’s Joyn snags 1,000 episode Paramount deal
ProSiebenSat.1’s streamer Joyn is to roll out a raft of Paramount shows and has struck an expanded library deal with the US studio.
Joyn and Sat.1 have secured rights to Navy CIS: Origins, with the show becoming available free of charge in Germany via the streamer one week before its broadcast debut on 22 July.
Sat.1 will show the free TV premiere in double episodes from Tuesday, 29 July at 8:15 pm.
Joyn is also extending its content deal with Paramount, snagging more than 1,000 episodes from the Navy CIS franchise produced by CBS Studios, as well as all seasons of Elementary, Dr Quinn and Charmed. All four shows are distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
Tranter, Lambert & Whiston among UK honours
Jane Tranter, Stephen Lambert and John Whiston are among the TV figures recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours.
Tranter, chief executive of Doctor Who indie Bad Wolf, has been elevated to CBE, the highest honour outside of a damehood, for service to television, while Sky group chief exec Dana Strong has received the same accolade for services to business and media.
Studio Lambert founder and chief Stephen Lambert and managing director of continuing drama and head of ITV in the North John Whiston have both been awarded OBEs. Read more
Prime Video extends Reacher
Prime Video’s hit US drama Reacher has unveiled the cast for its upcoming fourth season, which is based on Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow.
Joining star Alan Ritchson will be Jay Baruchel, Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan, and Kathleen Robertson.
The series is created by executive producer and showrunner Nick Santora and produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios. The show’s third season debuted in February and became Prime’s most watched returning series ever.
