Nippon TV drama remade in Greece
Alpha TV in Greece is remaking Nippon TV's drama Woman: My Life for My Children after striking a deal with the Japanese firm.
The Greek reboot will premiere on Alpha TV and stream on Alpha TV’s platform from 7 October, where it will be known as Mia Gyneka (A Woman).
Woman: My Life for My Children was produced by the creators of Asia's most exported scripted format Mother, with Yuji Sakamoto as script writer and Hisashi Tsugiya from Nippon TV as producer.
The series explores the plight of a single mother's unconditional love for her children and her economic reality. The deal was revealed by Sally Yamamoto, scripted format sales & licensing at Nippon TV, and Christos Kompos, program director of Alpha TV.
WBITVP unveils finished tape slate
Investigations into toxic pollution and unsolved crimes sit alongside searches for missing relatives, personal journeys and the story of one of football’s greatest players in
Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) has unveiled its finished tape slate for Mipcom, led by Wall to Wall’s Buried with Michael Sheen.
The 2 x 60-minute series was produced for BBC Two in the UK and investigates claims that toxic industrial chemicals were dumped across the Welsh communities where he grew up.
Also on the slate is Guz Does MMA, tracking comedian and actor Guz Khan's fitness mission. It's joined by two productions from WBITVP New Zealand: missing person show Breakthrough with David Lomas, and My Family Mystery, which explores unanswered questions that have shaped people's lives.
Canada's Serial Maven expands slate
Serial Maven Studios is ramping up its slate ahead of Mipcom by adding a further 600 hours of shows to its 1200-hour catalogue.
Shows being taken to Cannes include: Prime Time Predator (Northern Pictures and Arrow Media), Who Killed Little Christine? (Peacock Alley Entertainment) and Geordie Coppers (Candour Productions).
The offering also includes high-volume crime series from Law&Crime Productions, alongside premium docs, while science, natural history, engineering, scripted, documentary and factual entertainment is also being added.
Highlights include Unsolved Universe (Colbyvision), Empire of Bats (Primitive Entertainment), Donkey Kings (Monument TV), Mega Marine Machines S3 (Arcadia Entertainment) and World's Busiest (Arrow Media and Group M).
Talpa Studios sets ents formats for Cannes
John de Mol's Talpa Studios is leading its Mipcom offering with entertainment formats Sing With Me and The Golden Elevators.
Sing With Me is described as a "feelgood music entertainment format" developed in collaboration with The Traitors creators IDTV, in which aspiring singers get the chance to share the stage with some of the country’s biggest artists. It launches on SBS6 in the Netherlands on 7 November.
The Golden Elevators has already been commissioned by ITV in the UK and SBS6 in the Netherlands, where it is set to air in early 2027.
Other shows set for the Cannes market include Most Wanted and Catch Us, as well as The Floor and formats such as The Alliance, The House of Hide & Seek and Caught in the Middle.
Radar preps Space Cowboy for Cannes
Australia's Radar Studios is heading to Cannes with Space Cowboy, a 1 x 90-minute show produced by Thank You Pictures and REV Entertainment.
The feature doc tells the story of aerial cinematographer Joe Jennings who has spent more than four decades pushing the boundaries of what can be captured in freefall.
Radar Studios, which was unveiled last month, is also taking its first original production, Tony Robinson Rewrites History, to Mipcom, alongside true crime show Cook, produced by WTFN, RMG and Undivided Attention.
Elsewhere, the slate includes WTFN duo Police Australia and Ultimate Animal Rescue.
Disney+ buys Turkish drama
The Walt Disney Company has picked up two Turkish dramas from Eccho Rights.
Golden Boy is heading to STAR Life in Portugal and My Home My Destiny has been acquired by Disney+ across the MENA region.
STAR Life Portugal acquired romantic comedy titles Everywhere I Go and My Sweet Lie from Eccho earlier this year.
