Pierluigi Gazzolo lands at Spain’s Secuoya
Former Paramount and TelevisaUnivision exec Pierluigi Gazzolo has re-emerged at production and distribution outfit Secuoya Content Group.
Gazzolo has been been appointed to the board of directors at the Spanish firm, having most recently been chief exec at Latin American streamer ViX.
He has also served on the boards of international companies such as Sky Media, Seoul Broadcasting System, and Rainbow SRL.
Gazzolo also founded the first international streaming division at ViacomCBS, where he also worked with streamers Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
Nat Geo, Bell Media among Cineflix deals
Cineflix Rights has closed multiple international deals for US and Canadian-produced science and history content, ahead of the 2025 Banff World Media Festival next week.
National Geographic Channels (UK and Eire) have added Secret Nazi Science, which was produced by Go Button Media for Canada’s Super Channel, while Bell Media has bought Seasons 23-26 of long running hit Mayday: Air Disaster for its English and French channels. The show is from Cineflix Productions.
Little Sapiens, produced by Idéacom International for CBC in Canada, has sold to Canal+ in France for its Planete+ channel and also to Japan where it will air on NHK.
ABC (Australia), NRK (Norway) and YLE (Finland) have acquired Summer Qamp, from Cineflix Productions.
Stan extends Sony pact
Aussie streamer Stan has extended its programming deal with Sony Pictures Television, handing it rights to shows such as Outlander: Blood of my Blood and The miniature Wife.
Also included in the deal is Jon Hamm-starring American Hostage and movies such as Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Library TV series ranging from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul to Dawson’s Creek and The Good Doctor have also been picked up by the Nine Entertainment-owned streamer.
Sky Germany buys from BossaNova
Paul Heaney’s BossaNova Media has sold almost 100 hours of its programming to broadcasters across Europe.
The sales, which were brokered by head of sales Tatiana Grinkevich, include Sky Germany picking up a 16-hour true-crime package, headlined by The Killer Clown: Murder on The Doorstep from UK indie Flicker Productions.
Sky Germany has also acquired S3 of Rare TV’s Cold Case Killers, originally commissioned by the UK’s 5STAR, while AMC Iberia has invested in four true-crime titles, including Flicker’s The Killer Clown. The deal also covers The Cannibal Next Door, originally produced for Channel 5 by Future Studios, and The Chameleon: The Killing of Ronald Platt, also produced by Flicker.
Other deals see Hearst Networks Romania picking up all five series of Worldmark Films’ Caught on Dashcam and Polsat adding history titles, including ITN Productions’ one-hour special MH17: The Plane Crash that Shook the World commissioned by Channel 4.
Sommerdahl Murders continue into S7
Dynamic Television’s Danish crime series The Sommerdahl Murders has been extended into a seventh season by TV2, with TV4 in Sweden, TV2 in Norway, MTV3 in Finland and NPO in the Netherlands also picking up the series.
The 4 x 90-minute or 8 x 45-minute Nordic drama is based on Anna Grue’s book franchise and is a co-production between Dynamic Television, ZDF, ndF, Sequoia Global Alliance, and Danish broadcaster TV 2. Production for Season 7 has begun filming and the series is expected to premiere next year.
The Sommerdahl Murders is created by Lolita Bellstar, who serves as head writer alongside Christine Exner and Jonna Bolin-Cullberg. Danish production company Sequoia Global Alliance produces.
Australie Nine lands Paralympic rights
Nine Entertainment Co. and the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 have struck a deal that will see the Aussie operator gaining exclusive free and paid audio-visual and non-exclusive audio rights to the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.
Nine will provide coverage of the 2026 event to Australian audiences from 6-15 March via 9Network, 9Now and Stan Sport.
