B17’s Greg Moscot launches production service firm

Former Discovery, B17 Entertainment and ITV exec Gregg Moscot has launched a new production service company.

Moscot Global Production Services (MGPS) is based out of LA and aims to provide production services in the US, working across all genres and formats.

It will also orchestrate and facilitate international production services for domestic producers and buyers looking to film and post outside of the US, from conception and planning through to physical production, post and delivery.

The company has already struck production partnerships in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Australia, Thailand and Central Europe. Moscot was most recently chief operating officer at Sony-owned B17 Entertainment.

 

Canada’s C3 Media hires Muse’s Michael Kronish

Muse Entertainment’s Michael Kronish has been appointed president of C3 Media, the Canadian production shingle that sits within Cineflix Media.

Kronish will lead the Montreal-headquartered company’s strategic direction and operational performance, working with founder Pablo Salzman, who is taking on the role of head of content, and managing director Jason Simms.

Kronish joins having been senior vice president of unscripted and docs at Muse and will remain executive producer on several Muse productions including CBC’s recently announced docuseries Running Smoke.

Prior to joining Muse, Kronish was executive vice president at Vice Media, where he launched and oversaw the Canadian production studio for platforms including cablenet Viceland.

 

Portugal takes Talpa’s Quiz with Balls

TVI in Portugal has ordered a local version of Talpa Studios’ gameshow format The Quiz with Balls, with Fremantle Portugal producing.

The show will be recorded at Talpa Studios’ hub in Argentina and sees contestants answering questions in a bid to avoid getting knocked into a swimming pool.

The series is scheduled to air this fall in Portugal, following previous commissions in The Netherlands, US, Germany, Spain, Argentina and Uruguay.

 

HBO Max’s Pitt starts production

HBO Max hit drama The Pitt has started production on season two.

The series, from John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television, has been created by R. Scott Gemmill, and stars Noah Wyle. It is shooting on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, with exteriors shot on location in Pittsburgh.

Season two will debut in January 2026, with the show a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh.

 

Passion Pictures brings in Blast exec

UK production firm Passion Pictures has appointed Blast Films exec Jess Bird as head of development and made two additions to the team she will now lead, Broadcast can reveal.

Bird will work alongside creative director Hamish Fergusson and managing director David Moulton to supercharge the indie’s development slate of returnable series and feature documentaries for broadcasters and streamers.

Bird joins from Blast where, as acting head of development, she worked on an as-yet-unannounced doc for a major streamer. Read more
