Wedotv strikes New Regency pact

Wedotv, the global ad-supported streaming TV network, has completed a licensing deal with New Regency for a package of more than 80 films.

The AVOD and FAST channels operator, will make the films available on both its direct-to-consumer service and Wedotv movies channels in the UK, Italy, DACH, Benelux, and the Nordics.

Among the titles in the packages are cult classics such as Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, and features such as Dangerous Beauty, Down With Love and Made In America.

 

Ridley Scott prodco name co-CEO

Scott Free has promoted chief operating officer Justin Alvarado Brown to become co-chief exec at the Ridley Scott outfit.

Brown is based out of LA and will work alongside fellow co-chief exec Luke Scott, who is London based.

Brown’s remit include oversight of Scott Free’s TV and film business, including strategy setting and the striking of deals around the world.

The exec joined the Ridley Scott firm in 2010, taking up his chief operating role in 2012 and adding a president title in 2021.

 

Disney+ debuts Copa America docuseries

Disney+ has debuted its Copa America 2024: El Legado docuseries, which looks back at the Lat Am trophy that took place last year.

The six-parter tracks how Argetina ultimately won the competion and follows teams behind the scenes and the tension rose.

The show was produced by Offline Sports, which was co-founded by former MGM exec Diego Piasek.
