Mayor of Kingstown to end
Paramount+ is bringing the curtain down on Jeremy Renner-starring drama Mayor of Kingstown with a fifth and final season.
The order for the eight-part run comes a week after the show’s fourth season debuted on Paramount+.
Mayor Of Kingstown is from co-creators Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, with Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions attached. Paramount Global Content Distribution sells globally.
Sheridan, who is behind shows including Landman and the Yellowstone, last year struck a deal to join NBC Universal in January 2029.
Emily in Paris to return
Netflix has ordered a sixth season of Darren Starr’s drama Emily In Paris.
The extension comes two weeks after the show’s fifth season debuted on the streamer, since when it has amassed 26.8m views globally.
The show, which tracks the travails of a marketing exec who moves to Paris, is produced by Paramount TV Studios, Darren Star Productions and Jax Media.
Wise Owl names creative chief
UK-based Wise Owl Films has promoted its specialist factual head James Knight to creative director, succeeding the regional indie’s founder Mark Robinson.
Knight assumes the role with immediate effect and will be tasked with leading the Leeds-based producer’s premium factual output, as well as continuing to oversee More 4 series Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, which returns later this month for a third outing.
Robinson will continue to exec produce for the Lime Pictures-owned label and consult on development projects.
Knight joined the When … Came to Britain producer in 2019 in the newly created role of specialist factual development exec having had stints at Endemol Shine North, True North Productions and BBC Studios. Read more
