BBC joins for Kin S3

The BBC has boarded the upcoming third season of Irish drama Kin.

The Dublin-based crime series ran for two seasons and was a major hit for Ireland’s RTÉ before the show’s Canadian co-producer Bron Studios collapsed.

That left the Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly created drama in limbo, but RTÉ confirmed its return in July, with Metropolitan Pictures again attached alongside House of Juno. The Irish Times first reported the BBC had boarded the show, with the UK broadcaster having previously taken the first two series.

Marci Hume exits A+E

A+E Networks vice president of programming is to leave the company.

Marci Hume had been in the role for almost a decade and is exiting to return to filmmaking, following her work on doc Corey Feldman vs The World, which she directed.

Hume broke the news on LinkedIn, explaining that while she “loved the network version of creative life… corporate life can also constrict”, adding that she was looking forward to “leaping into independent filmmaking”.

Her exit comes a week after Disney’s sale of its stake in A+E. 

Netflix orders live dating format

Syeda Irtizaali has found her debut order at Netflix in the form of a marriage-focused dating format from Workerbee and Initial, Broadcast can reveal. 

BBC alum and The Traitors commissioner Irtizaali has greenlit Netflix, Will You Marry Me? from the producers behind hits including Celebrity Bear Hunt, Love Triangle, Last One Laughing UK and Big Brother. 

The 12-episode tentpole has the flavour of Big Brother-meets-Married At First Sight, and will consist of 12 episodes running across four weeks.  

Michelle Chappell and Rick Murray exec produce for Workerbee, and Tamsin Dodgson and Katy Manley are attached for Initial. Read more
