Oasis doc sets Disney+ debut

Disney+ is to launch its Oasis documentary around the world from 9 October.

Oasis: Don't Look Back In Anger, which is labelled a Hulu Original, will stream exclusively on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu and Disney+ in the US.

The doc features never-before-seen footage that includes material from the joint interview with Liam and Noel Gallagher, and performances of songs including Half The World Away will be available exclusively to Disney+ customers.

The show is produced by Magna Studios and launched i cinemas earlier this month. Steven Knight and directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace are attached.

Fixing The Planet lands on BBC Earth

BBC Earth has unveiled a ten-part digital series aimed at spotlighting the people, ideas and innovations that are helping to drive climate progress around the world.

Titled Fixing the Planet, the show will be available on the broadcaster’s BBC Earth and BBC Earth Science YouTube channels and is co-produced by BBC Studios Natural Unit and climate initiative Speed & Scale.

The series is based on an action plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions to net zero laid out in a book — also titled Speed & Scale — by John Doerr and Ryan Panchadsaram, and will showcase stories ranging from the rise of electric buses to sustainable fashion.

Brinkworth names digital director

Factual producer Brinkworth has appointed its first digital director as part of its ambitions to build a new in-house digital publishing and ventures division. 

Yara Silva joins the Surgeons: A Matter of Life and Death indie from Reach plc where she was most recently head of content at Reach Studio, leading a 53-person team across video, podcast and branded content for titles such as the Mirror, Express, Daily Star and OK! Magazine. 

At Brinkworth, Silva will build the company’s first in-house digital publishing and ventures function.  

She will also be charged with setting a strategy for the company’s owned channels, launching new talent-led digital ventures as well as managing relationships with YouTube, Meta and TikTok.
