Quintus preps factual quintet
Germany's Quintus Studios is taking five new and returning factual titles to Mipcom, spanning investigative crime, access-led programming and feature documentary.
Syndicates: Germany's Underworld is being produced with broadcaster Kabel Eins, streamer Joyn and Seven.One Entertainment and explores black market trades and their links to the world.
A Doctor’s Mind is produced by Moving Stories Group and explores surgery; How to Make Money Behind Bars is produced by Jessica Mitchell for ZDFinfo and explores the most notorious prisons in South America; and Jailhouse Records is also from Mitchell in partnership with The Epic Company and Quintus Studios, and premieres on the DocuBay streamer.
Rounding out the quintet is Behind Bars, S6, produced by Maximus Films for Viasat and WarnerBros.Discovery Iberia.
BossaNova unveils Development Day sales
UK-based BossaNova Media has announced global sales for projects emerging form its Development Day, and named Lavell Charlemagne as its strategic operations and finance director.
Lavell, who previously worked for UK-based firms including Rankin and the Dazed Group, will assist with IP expansion and supporting cross-functional teams.
Meanwhile, BossaNova has sold Roman Empire by Train, Professor Alice Robert’s fourth travelogue in search of ancient civilisations, to SBS in Australia, VRT in Belgium, Movistar in Spain and BBCS in the US, Poland and Africa.
Other deals include Days That Shocked the World, produced by Argonon's UK factual specialist BriteSpark, being picked up by Novo 19 in France, Radial in the US and Sky Germany. BossaNova's next Development Day takes place 8 October.
Scorpion unveils Mipcom slate
UK factual distributor Scorpion TV is leading its Mipcom slate with Your Attention Please, a new documentary examining the growing backlash against social media and the fight to reclaim human connection from the attention economy.
Directed by Sara Robin, and written and edited by Jack LeMay, the film follows parents, young people, campaigners, whistleblowers and technology reformers confronting the real-world consequences of social media, particularly its impact on children and young people.
The doc will also explore practical attempts to change our relationship with technology and is centered around Kristin Bride, a mother who took the platforms to court and her fight to the US Senate after losing her son Carson following online harassment.
