Netflix preps Mo Gilligan’s Big Chicken doc
Mo Gilligan is bringing his comedy chops to the world of factual in his debut documentary for Netflix, investigating the world’s global fried chicken obsession and its hidden costs.
Big Chicken: A Fast Food Conspiracy is produced by Mindhouse, the company behind previous Netflix hit doc Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere, and will launch on 5 August.
As a self-proclaimed lover of the food, Gilligan puts his body to the test in an experiment that sees him eat fried chicken three times a day for 28 days in a row, replicating a similar exercise undertaken by the late Morgan Spurlock in Super Size Me.
Over the course of the month, he embarks on an eye-opening journey from South London to the US to reveal the historical origins of fried chicken and the social, economic and industrial forces that fuel our mass consumption. Read more
