Artful Dodger to end on Disney+

Disney+ is bringing the curtain down on The Artful Dodger, with a greenlight for a third and final season.

The show, which will debut on Hulu in the US, is the most viewed Australian original title for Disney+ to date and stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen’s Gambit), David Thewlis (Landscapers) and Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble).

Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures produces, with Jo Porter and Rachel Gardner returning as EP. Chris Martin-Jones (Home and Away) is series producer, Ben Young (The Twelve) and Ben C. Lucas (The Survivors) are directors.

Filming on S3 will take place in Sydney, Australia. The series was co-created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor.

 

Paramount+ preps Oz comedy finale

Hit Australian comedy Colin From Accounts will debut its final season in the US from 10 September.

The eight-part third season, which was revealed to be its last earlier this summer, again stars its creators Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall. Aussie prodco Easy Tiger and CBS Studios are attached.

All episodes will drop at once, with the show available exclusively on Paramount+ in the US. The comedy, which has been picked up by the BBC in the UK, was commissioned by Australian streamer Binge, which debuted the third run on 27 July.

The series, sold by Paramount Global Content Distribution, follows two strangers who come together over an injured dog, entering an unlikely relationship.

 

Disney hires Eccho exec for Iberia sales

Eccho Rights’ LatAm sales exec Violeta Trincado has joined Disney to oversee sales across Iberia.

Trincado becomes content sales supervisor at the Mouse House, having prevoipusly held roles at Entertainment One and Trece TV.

She will be based out of Madrid and reports into Joaquin Becerra and Diana Borbon.
