German entertainment format to be taken out to international buyers following local debut earlier this year

Germany’s ZDF Studios is to launch international format sales for a recently greenlit show that challenges assumptions and first impressions.

Neo Match Up

Neo Match Up, which is produced by Germany’s 1Take Films, requires contestants to match five people with five identities.

Players can question the people and test their instincts, but the format’s central challenge lies in overcoming stereotypes and misleading first impressions.

The show was produced for sibling network ZDFneo, which debuted a 4 x 30-minute series earlier this year. A further four episodes are now in production, with comedian Parshad Esmaeili hosting.

Ralf Rückauer, vice president of unscripted at ZDFS, said: “Neo Match Up takes a universally appealing idea and gives it a contemporary twist. At its heart, it is a highly entertaining show about perception, intuition and surprise.”
