When Samantha Beddoe scored her debut executive producer credit on the 2021 movie Boiling Point, it kickstarted the second phase of a career previously dedicated to production finance, managing complex budgets on international productions including FX series Atlanta and Disney+’s The Acolyte.

The turning point came in 2019, when Beddoe landed a place on the Women in Film & Television UK Mentoring Scheme, where she was mentored by Bedlam managing director Olwyn Silvester.

“The scheme was meant to last six months but we carried on and I’ve learned as much from Sam as she has from me,” Silvester reflects. “Her combination of excellent creative taste and commercial acumen makes her exactly the kind of producer you want running a production.”

Beddoe found a kindred spirit in Boiling Point director Philip Barantini and the pair teamed up to launch It’s All Made Up Productions, adapting his movie into a BBC1 series (with Matriarch Productions and Ascendant Fox) and landing Netflix’s The Accused, which the duo co-produced.

“Sam has a rare combination of creative insight, strategic thinking and unwavering commitment,” says Barantini. “Able to balance the big picture with the smallest details, she’s organised, calm under pressure and always one step ahead.”

Beddoe’s foothold in creative and financial production led her to steer the indie’s deal with Avalon, which recently took a minority stake to scale up its international ambitions.
