Already nominated as a post-production Young Talent of the Year at the 2025 Broadcast Tech Awards, Glasgow-born Jade Gray’s had a rapid rise through both the technical and client-facing sides of her role.

She navigated a tough start when her head of department sadly passed away, taking the reins and providing stable leadership to her team. Following an assistant editor credit on UKTV drama Annika, Jade achieved her first editor credit on Holly Barbour’s short film Shrapnel.

Barbour describes her time working with Jade as “an absolute delight”.

She adds: “Every single time Shrapnel screens, everyone asks me who my editor was and tells me how impressed they are by her work. I sing Jade’s praises whenever I can and really hope I can work with her again soon.”

From there, she moved on to two feature docs with Tigerlilly Too: Blue Has No Colour and Pauline Black: a Two-Toned Story.

The company’s managing director Nikki Parrott says Jade was “fundamental” to the critical and commercial success of the latter: “Jade was really organised but also visually talented, cutting small sequences for us while we were editing to help us deliver on time.”

On Jade’s most recent project, Black Camel Pictures’ children’s drama Gifted, she stepped up from assistant editor to VFX editor, overseeing almost 1,000 VFX shots and securing an editor credit on two episodes.

Now she’s working on series two of the company’s dual-language series An t-Eilean/The Island - her first time as an offline drama editor.

Producer Bjorn Hamsel says: “A vital resource throughout prep, production and now post, Jade has kept us all on track and sane.

“Her knowledge of every aspect of the edit and microscopic attention to detail are beyond impressive and her positive attitude makes her a joy to collaborate with.

“We have also been thrilled to watch Jade take on a more creative role and seamlessly step up to edit a complex episode of our series - in addition to all the ‘Previously On’s and brilliant teasers. We cannot wait to see what she does next - and we hope to work with her again.”
