When Zandland chief executive Ben Zand was exploring what he wanted to achieve with Human, a self-funded global YouTube documentary series, Callum Isaac took immediate ownership of its development.

“At the time, this was a new idea with no fixed template: a developing editorial identity, multiple films in motion, shifting production needs, and all the moving parts that come with building a new strand inside a small independent company,” Zand recalls.

Supporting the initial development and production phase, Callum worked with contributors and in the edit to help establish the series’ identity.

As lead producer, he was often balancing multiple concurrent edits while coordinating remote shoots, shaping story plans, managing risks and feeding into the wider PR and social campaign.

One film, on Israel/Palestine, proved a decisive moment in the life of the strand when events expedited its delivery by three weeks. It reached 15m viewers within six months, winning acclaim for Callum’s sensitive contributor-led approach that gave voice to the diverse perspectives of both Israelis and Palestinians.

Elsewhere, Callum supported Channel 4’s first fully in-house production studio 4Studio as an assistant producer, co-chairs 4Pride, and introduced inclusion guidelines into the studio and across C4 as an equity ambassador. He also set up Zandland’s summer student work experience programmes across the UK.

Now you’ll find Callum at Creatorville where, as senior development producer, he continues to bring a mix of editorial instinct, production discipline and audience understanding to build new slates of original and branded digital series.
