BBC Broadcast, the corporation's latest commercial subsidiary, has appointed a senior executive from Discovery Networks Europe to head up its playout and media services division, writes Barbara Marshall.

Margaret Kelly joins from DNE where she was senior vice-president of business services, responsible for the operation of Discovery's activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. During her six years there, Kelly was involved with the launch of 30 channels across the region. She has also worked for Flextech Television and Wire TV.

As BBC Broadcast director of playout and media services, Kelly will oversee the provision of multichannel management services to both BBC and external clients. Reporting to managing director Pam Masters, Kelly is the second senior appointment since the creation of BBC Broadcast earlier this year. Circus partner Andy Bryant was appointed director of creative services in March (Broadcast, 28.3.02).
