Apple TV has ordered an action thriller starring James Marsden from Pachinko producer Blue Marble Media.

Disavowed is the first TV series for Iron Man duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, with the show based on their idea. Apple Studios produces with Blue Marble.

The drama, which Apple said has been set up as an “ongoing” series, tracks a legendary CIA officer who is abruptly fired in the middle of a global hunt for an elusive assassin responsible for killing his colleague.

Disgraced and outcast from the world of intelligence, all bets are off when he decides to go after the $15m federal bounty on the assassin’s head.

The series will be exec produced by Marcum, Holloway, Tom Spezialy and Marsden, alongside Blue Marble’s Theresa Kang and Caroline Garity.

Marsden currently stars in fellow Apple TV series Your Friends & Neighbors, and has also appeared in Hulu’s Paradise.

Disavowed joins recent Apple TV commissions including an untitled half-hour comedy starring Elizabeth Banks (The Miniature Wife) and a French-language thriller starring Diane Kruger and Raphaël Personnaz.
