Mirja Minjares previously worked on BBCS’s Dancing with the Stars
BBC Studios has hired a commissioning editor from Norwegian public broadcaster NRK to lead its entertainment productions in the Nordics.
Mirja Minjares becomes head of entertainment for BBCS Nordic Productions and will lead the creative Norwegian production team.
She is also responsible for developing BBCS’s content strategy in Norway, together with local management.
Minjares has spent more than two decades in the business across production, commissioning and senior project management roles, working on a local version of BBCS’s Dancing with the Stars (Skal vi Danse) and Fremantle’s Idol.
She was most recently commissioning editor at NRK and has managed shows including Ultimate Entertainer (Stjernekamp) and the first season of 24-Star Christmas Calendar (24 Stjerners Julekalender).
The exec also led on podcasts such as Mannen i Thereses Gate, Historiske Kjendisser and Ari.
Minjares starts on 1 June and will be based out of Oslo, reporting into BBC Studios Norway managing director, Benedikte Minos, and head of BBC Studios Nordic Productions, Jan Salling.
