First-of-its-kind unit will combine French giant’s broadcast and production teams to create content across all mediums
French broadcast giant Canal+ has launched what’s been dubbed as the first ‘cross-functional’ division with production sibling StudioCanal in a bid to expand its comedy output.

The Bureau de la Comédie will see the Canal+ editorial teams working with StudioCanal as part of a single unified structure that will identify talent, develop and produce ideas, and then implement them across all media.
The division will devise and produce comedy of all forms, including TV entertainment and scripted shows, feature-length films and short movies.
The unit is being headed up by Jérémie Khiat, the former editorial director for TV and fiction, who is now director of the Bureau de la Comédie.
Khiat reports into deputy chief exec of Canal+ France Jean-Marc Juramie, who leads on content and channels, as well as StudioCanal chief exec Anna Marsh for feature film co-productions.
Khiat has been with StudioCanal for almost eight years, wporking across international film sales before joining the Canal+ Original Creation development teams.
