More than 700 episodes from RTL Group-owned outfit to become available on streamer, starting with pair of long-running comedies

Disney+ in France has struck a deal with Groupe M6 that will see hundreds of episodes from the broadcaster becoming available on the streamer, some prior to their linear debuts.
Long-running comedy duo Scènes de Ménages and En Famille will join Disney+ from 25 September, followed in early 2027 by reality shows Mariés au Premier Regard and The Power: Qui a le Pouvoir?.
In total, 700 episodes will gradually become available on Disney+ as part of its Europe-wide strategy to offer more local programming to subscribers.
Groupe M6, meanwhile, hopes the agreement will extend the reach of its content, particularly among 15 to 34-year-olds.
The companies added that they “are exploring new ways to respond to changing viewing habits and maximise exposure for French content.”
Financial details of the agreement have not been revealed but it is understood some unscripted shows will become available on Disney+ seven days prior to their linear debut on M6. Others will become available on Disney+ simultaneously with the broadcaster’s streamer.
Reach and returns
The deal marks the latest streamer-broadcaster partnership in France, as companies partner up to extend reach and improve local relevance.
Commercial broadcaster rival TF1 struck a shock deal with Netflix last year that saw almost all of its programming and live channels becoming available on the streamer from June, while public broadcaster France Televisions agreed a pact with Amazon Prime Video. Both deals raised concerns from producers about the effect on the ability to sell domestic second window rights.
Disney+, meanwhile, has been striking numerous pacts with broadcasters across the continent, including a limited deal that sees a handful of shows being shared with ITVX in the UK.
Similar deals have also been struck by Disney+ in Spain with Atresmedia and public broadcaster RTVE, as well as ARD and ZDF in Germany, SIC in Portugal, and NPO in the Netherlands.
Karl Holmes, general manager of Disney+ EMEA, said: “M6 has created shows that audiences in France really love, and we’re excited to bring some of those favourites to Disney+.
“With their strong appeal among younger viewers, it’s a natural fit and means even more local shows for our customers to enjoy. We’re really pleased to take this next step with M6, and to keep working with broadcasters across Europe to bring their shows to new audiences.”
David Larramendy, chairman of Groupe M6’s board, added that the agreement would allow “some of our most iconic brands to reach new audiences and benefit from additional exposure among Disney+ subscribers.”
He continued: “This agreement reflects the transformation of the audiovisual landscape and demonstrates how broadcasters and streaming services can work together to develop new models that benefit audiences, content and creators alike.”
Disney+ last month revealed it would be tripling the number of local original series it commissions, with chief exec Josh D’Amaro explaining that “early success” had given the company “confidence to further ramp investment.”
