YouTube talent with more than 170m global followers to produce an initial 20 episode order for US studio’s platforms

Disney is getting into business with Dhar Mann after striking a content pact with the YouTube star.

The agreement will see Dhar Mann Studios producing 20 episodes of content aimed at youth audiences and families for Disney’s platforms.

It has not been revealed what kind of shows will be produced by Dhar Mann, who counts more than 170 million followers around the world and a cumulative 280m monthly views.

Disney is not the first US studio Dhar Mann has struck a pact with, following an agreement with Fox earlier this year.

The YouTuber has also agreed partnerships with brands such as the NFL and Gap and produces content for Samsung TV Plus.

Mann described the agreement as “so much bigger than a content deal” having grown up with the company’s stories.

He added: “We’ve spent years building a direct relationship with our audiences and learning what makes them laugh, cry, share and, most importantly, feel seen. Disney has spent generations creating stories and characters that become part of people’s lives.

“Bringing those two worlds together gives us an opportunity to dream much bigger about what these stories can become, where they can go and how many people they can impact.”

The Walt Disney Company’s chief marketing and brand chief, Asad Ayaz, and chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, Debra O’Connell, added: “Dhar has built a distinctive voice and an enormous global following, with stories that are uniquely his own.

“He and his team have forged an extraordinary connection with their audience, and we believe their optimistic, deeply relatable storytelling will connect in a meaningful way with Disney fans.”
